Rock Star Supernova’s Dilana Joins Cherry Lane Music

Cherry Lane Music Publishing Company Inc., whose roster includes songwriters such as Quincy Jones, the Black Eyed Peas, and John Legend, has signed a worldwide, long term, co-publishing agreement with sensational rocker Dilana Robichaux, who is best known for her participation on the hit CBS reality-show Rock Star: Supernova.

As the fan-favorite on the widely popular Rock Star: Supernova, Dilana was the show stopper during the broadcasts, as well as on the tour that followed. With her impressive songwriting abilities and powerful vocals, Dilana earned respect and praise from the show’s judges and viewers.

Dilana is currently working on material for an upcoming album, and is co-writing with Mötley Crüe’s Mick Mars, another Cherry Lane songwriter. Most recently, Dilana was the opening act for Aerosmith in Las Vegas. As her career flourishes with a thriving worldwide fan base, Dilana is set to make her mark in the music world.

Richard Stumpf, SVP of Creative Services & Marketing at Cherry Lane commented on the signing: “Anyone who has heard Dilana sing knows she is a rock star in the purest sense.  She blew the doors off of the CBS Rock Star: Supernova competition and was the star of the subsequent tour.  In our efforts to sign the best of the best, Dilana is right at home in the Cherry Lane family.  We are currently working with Dilana on her album and can’t wait for her fans to listen to the amazing music she is creating.”

Jimmy Stewart, Dilana’s manager at Sanctuary Artist Management remarked: “Cherry Lane has been an utter joy to work with. They are great people with an excellent understanding of today’s publishing world. The care and attention they’ve shown to Dilana has been quite astounding by traditional industry standards!”

Dilana commented on the signing: “I am ecstatic about being adopted by Cherry Lane!  I believe their vision for my career and success in this tough business mirrors my own. They love me and believe in me - that’s always a perfect recipe for inspiration!  My future looks bright with my new family!”

Gilby Clarke Has not left Rock Star Supernova Yet

Whether it’s because one of its members is quitting or due to a name change, Rock Star Supernova, the band formed on last summer’s Rock Star: Supernova CBS reality show, might eventually be no more.

Entertainment Tonight Canada reported last week that “Rock Star Supernova is over,” citing “reports” that ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke “has left the group.”  However those reports appear to be, at best, premature.

“I have not left Rock Star Supernova,” Clarke said in a statement released Saturday, according to blabbermouth.net.  “We just finished the tour. I don’t know where they got that from. I did an interview with ET Canada, and we talked about the future of the band, but I never said I’ve left the band.”  Interestingly, Clarke’s statement appears to stop short of stating that he is not going to be leaving the struggling band, only that he hasn’t done so already.
During the same report about Clarke’s departure, ET Canada also reported that Lukas Rossi — the Rock Star: Supernova contestant chosen to serve as the group’s lead singer — told the Canadian entertainment news show that the band will be changing its name.  “There will be a name change… the best is yet to come,” Rossi told ET Canada.

Despite its boastful name, things haven’t been going very super for the band since its formation.  The day before last summer’s final Rock Star: Supernova performance show, a judge barred the group from using “Supernova,” a pre-existing band name that the group was originally planning to use as its band name.

Then, a month after a Rock Star: Supernova finale broadcast that featured Rossi being touted as the new lead singer of “this supergroup,” bassist Jason Newsted tore his left bicep and rotator cuff, forcing him to miss the group’s first tour.  Ticket sales for the recently completed tour — which featured Black Crowes bassist Johnny Colt replacing Newsted — were less than stellar and the band’s self-titled debut album (released November 21, 2006) received mostly negative reviews and failed to make Billboard’s Top 100 in the U.S.
